Hi Hi!

Tonight I have a brand new painting up in my zombietoes etsy shop...It is yet another addition to my ever-growing "Cartoon Aquarium" series!
"Kellie, Ellie, and Nellie" features three strange little jellyfish floating through an inky black sea. Theya re really adorable, but they WILL hurt you, so watch out! The original piece is an 11" x 14" acrylic painting on stretched canvas- to see more pictures and perhaps even adopt these three into your home, please click on the link below the pic:

I also have a small "Cartoon Aquarium" original painting up on eBay- this one I pulled from my etsy shop, it is the little seahorse painting "Sea Giraffes", with two seahorses in "giraffe suits". It is up for auction, starting at just $9.00 with free shipping! To make your bid, or just read the blurb, please visit the link below this picture:

I have been feeling a bit under the weather today; it is possible I may have caught a cold. :( But I just took it easy today, only working on ONE project LOL and eating soup and fruit and not leaving the studio. Lame, I know, but too much stress is always my ultimate immune deficiency.

OOh, in my sickly state I almost forgot! I have put up a few more dragon postcards in my Zazzle shop! To see them all, just click here!

And don't forget about my Mermaid Art Mystery Box auction, which only has 3 more days- to make a bid click here!

Now...back to my painting!

Ahoy hoy!

Well, I have been diligently cleaning and organizing my little studio, which is quite a task! I have a veritable wealth of lost art here! Well, it wasn't lost, but hidden in my many "neat piles"!

Seeing as I need more room and less "neat piles", I have gathered a whole slew of art together for a mystery box auction! I have covered a decent sized cardboard box (6.25" x 9.5" x 2.25") with pretty patterned paper, and am filling it with fairy art!
All sorts of art here; I have many original ACEOs (mixed media, fabric, and illustrations), prints, hand made items such as bookmarks, magnets, and more! And some larger mixed media pieces, plus some surprise items that I will not mention! It is a mystery auction, after all!
Again, all of the items in this box will be of fae nature, and many of them are one of a kind pieces! The auction will be up on eBay for 6 more days, starting bid is just $9.00, free shipping as always, and the link is below the picture, should you decide you want a whole box of fairy goodness:

Now...Lemmings! Yes, lemmings! If you are not familiar with these little beasties, I will briefly explain why I have chosen such a seemingly random critter to paint:

The Myth of the Lemming- It has been long believed that these small rodents commit mass suicide, mainly by jumping off of ocean side cliffs. Well...I am here to burst that bubble. (sorry). Lemmings are NOT suicidal, in mass quantities or otherwise. They simply overpopulate and then run out of food sources, leaving huge herds to wander the great lands of New Zealand and the Arctic in search of more food. unfourtunately for the lemmings, there are a lot of cliffs in these regions. Also unfourtunate is the small stature of these creatures- a lemming at the back of the herd is too short to see why the crowd has stopped moving...and just push forward, as they are so driven to find food. This results in the lemmings up front being forced off the cliffside! (So I guess maybe they commit mass genocide, by accident?)

Now, I know all this sounds rather dreary, but!...Lemmings CAN swim. Yay! So, hopefully not being killed by the sheer drop to the ocean, they will swim back to shore instead, continuing their search for food. In honor of these little guys, I have gone ahead and painted a whimsical take on this rather strange act of lemming nature- "Lemmings at Sunset"- an original 8" x 10" acrylic painting on a canvas panel. I know, it seems rather cute and light hearted. I thought I should keep it that way, seeing as the ARE at the hands of gravity, and we all know how that can end up. LOL!

"Lemmings at Sunset" is listed in my darklingemily etsy shop, and to read the blurb and perhaps even adopt these silly little rodents, please click on the link below the picture:

There are work in progress pictures here on my Facebook page.

It is also on display in the EBSQ online exhibit "Rodents" here!

I have also updated my website galleries (finally LOL!) with a bunch of new prints and posters! Specifically, the fantasy art gallery, the scary art gallery, and the miscellaneous art gallery all have new images! These include many of my big eye dragon pieces, newer zombie art, and pieces from my Cartoon Aquarium series! And, as always, all orders placed through my website are shipped for free!

Okay, I still have the loaner computer...:( Not really sure what is wrong with my laptop, and I am sick of troubleshooting, so I am not dealing with it right now. I have saved that for the week ahead. Which is going to be balls-to-the-wall errands, at least in the beginning of the week. It's a lifesaver that wrestling airs on Monday nights, or I wouldn't bother liking Mondays at all. You got lucky, Monday. LOL!

Anyhow, in lieu of apologizing, once again, for my lack of consistency lately, I am going to just get to business. :) I have listed a brand new addition to my 'Cartoon Aquarium' series-"Dinah"- in my zombietoes shop...

"Dinah" features one very pretty female goldfish (complete with pouty lips and dark, full eyelashes LOL) and two strange grey fish with...noses! They are also singing, or carrying on some sort of conversation, though I know you all cannot actually hear it..."Dinah" is an original acrylic painting, measuring 8"x 10" on stretched canvas. To view details, read the short story, and perhaps even adopt this piece, please follow the link below the picture:

In other news, I have donated a few pieces of art to a local "community outreach" sort of project- essentially, art is donated, art gets hung up for some time (about a month) and when art is taken down from display, it is wrapped in brown paper and passed out to random people via bicyclists who are very very awesome and rock so hard for getting this together...

The project is called "PaperGirl Project Northampton" and is based on a project started in Germany...Here is the website/blog with all the info and details:

PaperGirl Project Northampton

I highly doubt if my donations will make it onto a wall. I have no idea how many donations from how many artists they have received versus how many venues they have for display. I would be thrilled if they DID make it onto a wall, but I wont hold my breath. They may be too lowbrow, then again, there is always a place for lowbrow. It is the American way. You love a good fart joke, don't deny it.

I am going to try to get some new Zazzle stuff up soon...Perhaps coffee mugs/stamps/postcards...I mustt say, it is difficult working from a foreign computer. While I do have all/most of my files, they are not stored on the computer, and I keep forgetting that! It's the little things, you know? LOL! Okay, I am off to get some new art started...

Oh it is so the weekend!
Finally, the weather here is more summer-like, after about 3 weeks of rain! Of course, that makes up for the very very minimal rain we got in May...My poor garden!

Um, anyway, onto art stuff! In my zombietoes shop this weekend are some new and rather adorable ACEOs.
A quick biology lesson- Cuttlefish are cephalopods (related to squid and octopi) with 8 stubby tentacles and two longer tentacles with spade like fins on the ends. Generally these fins are sharp or toothed, as they are used to catch prey and reel it in so the stubby leggs can grab on and the cuttlefish can feed.
They can change colors as a chameleon does for hunting, mating, and feeding. They are edible and are served as dishes in many Asian countries.
The Cuttlefish miniseries lies within my Cartoon Aquarium series...
These guys are all original acrylic paintings in ACEO/art card format (2.5" x 3.5") on canvas. There are 4 of them at the moment, to see them all, please click on the link below the picture:

Now, I am off to get some actual stuff done...I've got two new dragon paintings sketched out, needing color!
